rocks

a rock is a rock, heavy, still as water, a softness

that can’t break up, or down

without hammer force

a rock that’s alive with fire is a meteor,

a metaphor, a phosphorous flare

a rock can’t drown, or be weighed down

the water embraces elemental things

to the core. rocks will fly through the air

from brittle tongues, but they come to rest, still

as water, when the target has not been met
