western exposure

at the desk by the window

a Highland ceremony has taken place

a laying open of dictionaries

to receive some kind of archaic wisdom

from mountains and trees

an unfolding of nakedness

without removing clothes, fur, skin

lighting a fire with desk wood

on a rickety chair

made of unknowing words

the shiver ejects only those memories

still inside, still exposed to raw flames
