morning tasting notes

opening window wide

the smell is familiar and I have to nose it like a wine

to get the undertones

the top note

a green smell that doesn’t make my nose twitch

lifted by faint wisp of heat from the sun

a clearing of the heart, the empty-headed air

the base smell which underpins the glass half-full

and then it’s onto the closed window, the silent roar of the day or a wide yawn
