sand dunes

Why can’t I be both

wind and sand? I want

to be pulling and pulled.

Can I be the wind, whipping,

stripping, shaping,

and the soft sand

yielding, surrendering

shapes into spaces?

I yearn to be both

you and I

together not taking

turns, as us, and

wind and sand

just taking time

the yes and no

of going and staying

being and nothing

to become both yin and yang

the yes and the no, going

and staying, why can’t I be both?
