reciprocity

in the living world,

does the earth love you back?

teacher feeds student,

but seeks love there

night nourishes day

exchanging love for grief,

in equal measure,

kindness nurtures wounding

but the wounding never heals

we’re dancing the dance of the giveaway

until, perhaps, just a memory of snow

is what’s left behind after the snow has melted away
