never leave your compass by the bedside

-travel and roam
wherever you want during the day
but never get up and leave your compass by the bedside

-leave instead your morning-forgotten, broken dreams
or the fully remembered ones that broke you for morning

-leave them on the pillow or in the bubble-stippled glass of water that didn’t make it back to the kitchen, leave them in the wrinkles of cloth and skin that begged for a trial separation at 4 am but now have merged

-get up, walk around naked all day, but never leave your compass by the bedside
