everything and nothing

Today, I am everything

I am tortoise,

slow limbs peeling safely inwards

I am pigeon, gutter-torn

I am potato, drawing strength from earth

I am ass, braying at wind

I am tree branch, unsure of blossom’s timing

I am river, frozen from the night chill

I am mountain, stuck in fundamental,

rooted, heavy.

Today, I am nothing much, but that’s everything,

in nothing, I am the source

a sylph touch of a feather frond

a pulse in the finger of a tree

a tortoise sigh, a potato eye

a dumb-ass gesture on the wind

a ripple in a rain puddle in lovers’ lane,

a valley void so deep, that even love can hide.
