alien weed invasion

Weeds are frowned upon which isn’t fair as some weed species are not that harmful yet others are considered aggressive nuisances. While it’s true that there are nuisance plants that can wipe out current indigenous plant species, are they really so damaging when left to thrive?  If alien weeds are destroying our indigenous plants, surely for one variety that dies out could there not be another species waiting to flourish, a new hardier species that challenges the weed? Is this not how evolution works? I guess that interfering with evolution becomes evolution itself, so none of it really matters. We can’t blame the weeds, they are just wild plants existing purely to service the soil. By wiping out weeds are we not also interfering with the natural evolution of our indigenous plants and flowers? Plants will evolve whether we interfere or not. Do we need to control and destroy weeds?
