giraffes of edinburgh

daisy poem

There they are again,
those elegant giraffes of Edinburgh
(in their natural habitat),
picking away at money grown on trees,
grabbing gently at the lining of clouds
and drifting through plains of rubble.

One day they will move on, or just
disappear like dinosaurs,
and 100 years from now, the people
of 2115 will just say
‘that’s how it was then’
that’s how Edinburgh earth drifted
here from there.
